The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 delivers big on performance and display quality, complete with a responsive screen for note-taking and drawing and a convertible design that really shines with the excellent Type Cover keyboard. The introduction of USB-C is a much-needed change, and the Pro 7’s design remains as travel-friendly as ever.
The Surface Pro 7 is a solid iteration of Microsoft’s flagship Windows-tablet 2-in-1, elevated this time by worthy upgrades in the form of a USB-C port and peppy “Ice Lake” CPUs.
We expected a bit more in advancements from the seventh Surface Pro tablet. USB-C is nice, but for a device at this price, it should have Thunderbolt 3. Plus, the display bezels are awfully thick for a tablet in 2019. The Surface Pro 7 isn’t big enough of a leap over the Pro 6 for us to recommend it.
The Surface Pro 7 may have been designed for businesses and enterprise customers, but the hardware improvements also make it worth seeking out if you’re an illustrator or art student. This Windows 10 tablet hybrid truly provides the best of both worlds, but you’ll need to look elsewhere if you need some serious power for 3D or video work.
